Break through your winter dormancy and learn about the subtle features of the winter trees with our Winter Trees Walk - "Bark, Buds & Branches." Join us for easy walks in the Yew Mountain Center Forest. Go out on a limb and learn about the secret lives of winter trees and enjoy family friendly fun in nature, Learn Winter Tree Identification from Ken Beezley and Maple Tapping from Will Lewis. 15th
Mountain State Maple Days - Tours & Brunch All-Day 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM Saturday $20 Adult - $10 Kid - Brunch All Day Come for a tour of our maple trees within the botanical sanctuary hosted by Will Lewis, WV Forest Farm Coordinator. Satisfy your maple cravings with endless stacks of fluffy pancakes drenched in local maple syrup! Mountain State Maple Days - Tours & Treats 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM Saturday $8 per plate Come for a tour of our maple trees within the botanical sanctuary hosted by Will Lewis, WV Forest Farm Coordinator. A self-guided tour of the maple trees will also be available. Engaging children activities centered around outdoor education and maple syrup production. Satisfy your maple cravings with stacks of Made-To-Order fluffy pancakes drenched in rich, golden maple syrup! 29th Tree Grafting - DIY Fruit Tree Grafting Experience 3:00 PM - 5:00 PM Saturday $25 Registration Get ready to learn the timeless skill of tree grafting with our Fruit Tree Grafting Workshop! Discover the whip and tongue grafting technique and create your own grafted fruit trees in this hands-on class. Guided by knowledgeable instructors, you’ll work with a variety of apple or pear trees and take home five grafted dwarf trees to start or expand your own orchard. Grab-n-Go refreshments will be available, Please feel free bring your own snacks or bring something to share. April

Appalachian Spring Dinner - Wildflowers, Ramps & Trivia 3:00 PM - 7:00 PM Saturday 3 PM - Wildflower Walk Immerse yourself in the vibrant colors of spring on a guided tour of local wildflowers. Explore their beauty and learn about their ecology. Suggested Donation $10 We appreciate gifts of any size! 5 PM - Appalachian Spring Dinner Savor the distinct flavors of a seasonal favorite, ramps, in a delicious, freshly prepared dinner. Pick up a few tidbits about growing ramps from YMC forest farm manager, Will Lewis. $20 Adult Dinner 6 PM - Trivia Trivia questions will weave together themes from the wildflower walk and ramp education plus test your general knowledge for a lively and fun competition. Wild Edibles Walk - All Ages Guided Walk 5:30 PM - 7:00 PM Friday Suggested donation: $10. We appreciate gifts of any size! Join us for an easy walk and informative session that teaches safe, responsible, and sustainable ways to gather nourishment from the wild. Stay the weekend with us to explore even more of the YMC events, with the Forest Farming Field Day happening the next day. 17th Forest Farming Field Day - Multiple Workshops 8:00 AM - 8:00 PM Saturday The 2025 WV Forest Farming Field Day will address a variety of forest farming topics, including opportunities for generating agricultural income while conserving and rejuvenating forested land through the cultivation of medicinal herbs, mushrooms, and maple syrup. Tour the Yew Mountain Center's forest farm and learn about mini-grants and technical assistance available to get you started or to expand a forest farm. June
